KIIT lose in EZ Inter-Varsity women cricket final

KIIT University finished runners-up in the East Zone Inter-University Women’s Cricket Tournament when they lost to Calcutta University by four wickets in the final at Ravenshaw University ground in Cuttack today. However, both the teams qualified to represent East Zone in the Inter-Zonal Tournament, scheduled to be held in Haryana.

Pundit Ravishankar University finished third, hammering Utkal University by 185 runs in another match of the day. In reply to a huge total of 228 by Ravishankar, Utkal were bundled out for 43. Priyanshu Priya Dhanson hit an unbeaten century for Ravishankar. As many as eight players of Utkal failed to open their accounts.

IFS officer Ajay Kumar Mohapatra handed over the trophies at the closing function. Odisha Cricket Association secretary Asirbad Behera, Ravenshaw University Vice-chancellor Prakash Chandra Sarangi and Sports Officer Anjan Kumar Khuntia were present on the occasion.

BRIEF SCORE (Final): KIIT University 115/10 in 29.3 oves (Rani Tudu 28, Indrani Chhatria 26; Tanaya Mukherjee 3 wkts, Sumona Roy and Mita Paul each 2 wkts) lost to Calcutta University 116/6 in 28.1 overs (Prativa Rana 44, Jhumpa Mandal 38) by 4 wkts.
